Seasonal Tips - Check List

Spring

Spring is the best time for planting in Minnesota. As the warming temperatures and regular rainfalls occur, plants are able to establish their roots early on before having to endure the hot summer heat!

This is also the time when irrigations should be turned back on. By hiring a professional start-up your irrigation system, you are sure to have the proper water coverage for both your lawn and planting areas!

Begin a Fertilizer and Weed Control Program to keep your lawn green and weed free!

Core Aeration and dethatching of lawns is typically done during the early Spring months. This allows your lawn to let water and nutrients access to your lawns root system!

Proper mulching of all plantings and trees is equally important throughout the months. Make sure to avoid placing the mulch tightly against any tree trunks or ornamental plant as this may lead to rot.

Late Spring be sure to prune back the plants that only blossom in the Spring months. This will ensure proper growth for the following year!

Summer

Water is essential during the hot summer months. Set your irrigation system to turn on early in the morning or in the early part of the evening.

A Mid Summer Fertilizer treatment and Weed Treatment is necessary to keep that lawn looking good.

Fall

Fall is an excellent time to plant shrubs, trees, and bulbs. As your plantings and lawn prepare to dormant, be sure to water everything efficiently to ensure growth and a healthy start in the Spring.

Fall Clean-Up allows for all those leaves, twigs, and dead grass to be hauled away to ensure that your lawn will be ready for next year.

Be sure to give your lawn a Fall Feed... Fertilizing is especially important during this time since it allows your lawn to maintain the proper nutrients during the winter so that it is ready for Spring!

Winterize your irrigation system before it freezes... typically late September thru October.

Winter

Holiday Lighting installation for both exterior and interior is offered so that you can really enjoy the holiday season without having to worry about hanging the lights and decorating for parties!

Winter is an excellent time to prune trees and shrubs in Minnesota. Many plants have lost their leaves, making it easier to see their framework. This allows us a clear view of which branches to remove. However, do not prune plants that bloom in the spring, as you could remove next spring's flowers. Prune these plants after the blooms fall off in the spring.
